Green Hornet Movie In 2010

The Green Hornet is green indeed! The Green Hornet was created by Fran Striker for an American old-time radio program in the 1930's. In the following decades the radio show spawned into other media, including film serials, comic books and, more famously into a TV show starring Bruce Lee as Kato, the Green Hornet's sidekick, in the 1960's.

Let's watch the opening of the 1960's Gren Hornet TV show to better remember the hero:

The Green Hornet is a fair-to-above average hand-to-hand combatant who fights against crime. During the day the Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day. But the journalist reveals to be a vigilante by night. In his fight against crime the Green Hornet is helped by his manservant Kato who is a martial-art expert. The pair drives around in a car equipped with advanced technology, called 'Black Beauty'.

The TV show was not that great but still deserves some respect. I am glad that a feature film is under work with the script being written by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (which is fine).

But I was almost shocked when I heard that Seth Rogen is running for the lead role of the Green Hornet! What the heck? i really can't imagine this big fat pro-weed boy interpreting the role of the Green Hornet... I am afraid they are actually making some stupid spoof comedy...

Here's what Seth Rogen recently said about the Green Hornet:

Seth Rogen why don't you stay away from the Green Hornet for God's sake?"To us, it was just this funny notion that, when you say Green Hornet to someone, the first thing they say is, 'Hey, Bruce Lee played Kato in that show.' We really wanted to make this hero-sidekick movie. ... For years we'd really been trying to write a movie that was kind of about a hero and his sidekick. When we heard the Green Hornet movie was up for grabs, we thought that could be the perfect way to do this story, because he is the only hero whose sidekick is more known than he is. We thought it would be a good way to tell this relationship story and just do a big crazy action movie."

Honestly I can be but pessimistic concerning this Green Hornet movie by now... I would be more than happy to be proved wrong, but I think this film will just be utter crap...

The Green Hornet movie is scheduled for a release in June 2010. May God help Seth Rogen to make a miracle! Only a divine intervention may save the Green Hornet!
